Supporter spotlight: The Quartet of St John
We’re extremely grateful to The Quartet of St John, which is made up of our supporters Professor Vicky Jolliffe, Dr Maxton Pitcher, Gruffydd Owen and David Winfield, who will be performing The Seven Last Words by Joseph Haydn to raise money to support our hospice.
Professor Jolliffe is a consultant of St John and St Elizabeth Hospital who helps to fund our services. The hospital, which is affectionately known as John & Lizzie’s in the local community, provides high-quality private care to patients in the heart of St John’s Wood.
Our Inpatient and Day Care Unit are also located within the hospital and in addition to their financial support, all x-rays, pathology, pharmacy and Lymphoedema services are delivered on-site. This enables us to provide a level of care that could not happen in most other hospices.
We are incredibly grateful to the Hospital for their ongoing support and particularly that of their consultants like Professor Jolliffe, who take their support of our hospice to new heights.
Speaking of why she wanted to hold the concert to support St John’s, Professor Jolliffe says: “As a consultant at St John and St Elizabeth Hospital, I am enormously proud of the close connection the Hospital has with the hospice and I wanted to bring my twin loves of music and medicine together to fundraise.
“Like medicine, music plays a pivotal role in the healing process and this performance will, I hope, provide an opportunity for personal reflection, spiritual contemplation, and healing. We have been playing together for many years – in chamber groups as well as orchestras – and are delighted to support the hospice in continuing to provide superlative loving, holistic and inclusive care to so many individuals.”
The concert will be held in our chapel next Monday 3 April 2023 and will begin at 4 pm. It will be free to attend and there will be a retiring collection to raise funds. If you are in the area on Monday 3 April, please do pop by to show your support.
