Multiple runners taking part in a challenge

Thames Footpath Challenge

Embark on this 1 day challenge with Charity Challenge and walk 42km along London’s Thames Path.

About the event

This is a tough 1 day challenge that will see you walking a marathon-distance from Hampton Court to Millennium Bridge. You’ll be following the Thames Path for 42km, which allows you to see the changing landscape from leafy areas of west London through to the bustling city sights further in the east.

Charity Challenge specialises in delivering exceptional adventure challenges, allowing participants to raise money for StJohn’s. For over 24 years they have created and managed international expeditions which have enabled people to raise in excess of £70 million for thousands of charities. Charity Challenge operates challenges across 6 continents, in over 40 countries worldwide.

Why trek for St John’s Hospice?

As part of Team St John’s you will receive:

  • A free hospice branded t-shirt.
  • One-on-one support and mentoring to help you with your fundraising and training.
  • Discount on personal equipment from The Outdoor Shop, Outdoorhire, Cotswold Outdoor and Nomad Travel Stores.
  • On the day support from first-aid qualified Charity Challenge staff.
  • Packed lunch and checkpoint snacks and drinks on the day.

Most importantly, your fundraising will help us to reach more people and provide more care. Whether it is supporting a child with a bereavement counselling session following the loss of a loved one, providing a community nurse with new clinical equipment, or providing specialist one-to-one nursing on our Inpatient Unit.

How your support helps

  • £25 could fund a bereavement counselling session for a patient's loved one, providing them with much needed support at the toughest time.
  • £50 could fund a group art therapy session in our Wellbeing Centre, enabling our patients to learn new skills, express themselves and above all else, relax and have fun with one another.
  • £250 could fund a day of expert nursing care from a Healthcare Assistant in our Inpatient Unit.
  • £500 could fund 24-hour at-home nursing care for a patient who wants to remain in familiar and comforting surroundings in the later stages of their illness.
