Celebrate the life of someone special with St John’s Hospice

From dedicating one of our brand-new butterflies, an anniversary jasmine or a leaf on our Giving Tree, to creating a tribute page, taking on a challenge in their memory or organising a funeral collection. Read about the various ways you can support the work of St John’s Hospice while celebrating the life of your loved one and the memories you shared. You will enable their compassion and kindness to live on while creating moments of joy for all those we care for.

Dedicate a jasmine

This year, our hospice is celebrating 40 years of care. To celebrate this special occasion and all the happy memories made over the last 40 years, we have created hand-crafted anniversary jasmine flowers.

For a suggested minimum donation of £40, you can personalise your jasmine with a dedication to someone special. Your jasmine will then be included in a beautiful display of all 400 jasmines at our anniversary party in June.

Dedicate a butterfly

Our brand-new St John’s Butterflies are the perfect way to remember and celebrate the lives of the people who are special to you.

For a donation of £45, you can purchase a St John’s Butterfly engraved with a name or a special saying of up to six words. This could be something like ‘In loving memory,’ ‘Forever in our hearts,’ or ‘Never forgotten.’

Each of the butterflies purchased will live in one of our hospice gardens for one year, spaces where you can continue to visit and create new memories or remember the special moments shared. After this time, you can renew your butterfly or choose to take it home to cherish forever.

Dedicate a leaf on our Giving Tree

The St John’s Giving Tree is pride of place at the entrance to the hospice, serving as a reminder of the people we love and who have made a difference in our lives.

Your leaf will act as a lasting tribute to your loved one, with their name engraved on a bronze, silver or gold leaf:

  • Bronze: A £500 donation would provide you with a bronze leaf on the tree for a year.
  • Silver: A £1,000 donation would provide you with a silver leaf on the tree for two years.
  • Gold: A £2,500 donation would provide you with a gold leaf on the tree for five years.

Set up a tribute page with MuchLoved

Run the London Marathon, abseil from great heights, or design your own challenge, whatever you decide to do, you’ll be raising funds in their memory which will also help us be there for even more families at the most difficult time.

Find out more about the challenge events we have on offer by clicking here. If you’re designing your own challenge, we’d love to hear about it! Please email our team at challenges@hje.org.uk.

Organise a collection

If you’re hosting a funeral or celebration of life, you may wish to ask family and friends to limit flowers and ask for donations to St John’s in memory of your loved one instead. If you would like to collect donations at a funeral or memorial service, we can provide you with collection tins and envelopes. Please request these by emailing fundraising@hje.org.uk.

Your collection can be paid in online via our website or by calling 020 7806 4011. Cheques can be made payable to ‘St John’s Hospice’ and should be sent to: Fundraising Department, St John’s Hospice, 60 Grove End Road, London, NW8 9NH. Please ask your friends and family to include a note stating who the gift is in memory of.
