Our free will service: Bequeathed

We understand that writing a will can feel overwhelming, and you might be concerned about the potential costs involved. That’s why we’ve partnered with Bequeathed to help you write a basic will online for free.

Making your free will

We’re pleased to be able to offer our community the option of making a free will online through our partnership with Bequeathed, making the process of will writing as simple as possible and offering you guidance from a legal professional along the way.

There’s no obligation to include a gift to St John’s when you use this service. But after making sure loved ones are looked after, it would be wonderful if you chose to leave a gift to us. Whatever the size of your gift, you could help us provide care and comfort to everyone who needs it in our community, now and for years to come.

Steps to making a will with Bequeathed

1. Register and complete the will interview

Go online at any time that suits you, register and complete the online will interview. If you need help, there is support and guidance available throughout the process.

You may also find it useful to take a look at our wills glossary which explains some of the legal terms you are likely to come across.

2. Receive legal advice tailored to you

Once the online interview is complete you will receive automated legal advice in the form of recommendations, and sometimes requirements, from Bequeathed’s in-house solicitor. This legal advice is completely tailored to you and your circumstances.

3. Book a free appointment or get your free will straight away

You can then book a free 30-minute appointment to discuss any of these in more detail. These appointments take place online using Zoom, or by phone. Or, if the free basic will is suitable for you, choose the convenience of receiving it straight to your inbox or in the post without an appointment.

4. Receive your will with a Letter of Advice

However you decide to proceed, you will receive your will along with instructions on signing it correctly in front of witnesses and how to return it. You’ll also receive a Letter of Advice summarising everything you’ve been told and setting out what your will does and doesn’t do.

5. Consider leaving a gift to St John's

There’s no obligation to include a gift to St John’s when you use this service. But after making sure loved ones are looked after, it would be wonderful if you chose to leave a gift to us. Your generosity will help us to provide quality, holistic care to the community now and for years to come.
