The social workers at St John's Hospice are here to help the patient with any difficulties they may have.
They are able to listen to the patient and help them think about their problems and the help the patient may need. Everyone is different and we recognise that people cope in their own way. There is no right or wrong way of doing things when you are facing a life-threatening illness. We will try to go at your pace and be guided by you. Sharing feelings can often be painful and difficult but can also be an enormous help.
As well as emotional support we can also advise on a range of practical matters. For example, finances, benefits, housing, wills, power of attorney, disabled travel, getting help from Social Services, Immigration and problems with employers.
