This November, St John’s Hospice will be organising our first official ‘Movember’. Movember is a unique, month-long fundraising event. On November 1st, fundraisers put down their razors and grow, groom and style their moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health. To date, Movember has raised £346 million for men’s health charities all over the world – and we think it is time that St John’s Hospice officially took part.
If you use social media, your feeds will be filled with photos of moustache growing attempts as work teams, sport groups and friends join together to grow their ‘Mos’ (moustaches) to raise money. Moustaches are shaved off on December 1st when Movember officially ends.
Movember is an easy and fun way to fundraise. But in the light heartedness of the event there is a distinct message – to promote health. At St John’s Hospice, health and care is at the centre of what we do. Every year we support 3,000 terminally ill patients and their families to live as healthy and independent lives as possible for as long as possible for free.
And we would love you to get involved. All St John’s and St Elizabeth staff and supporters are invited to take part in St John’s Hospices first Movember. Keep an eye out for growing moustaches when you are visiting!
Keep us updated via Facebook and Twitter as well with your moustache growing efforts, and let’s see who grows the most impressive moustache! Happy Mo-Raising!
