Arnold House Raises The Roof & Over £600 at The Hospice

Arnold House School provided a wonderful performance at our Hospital Chapel on Tuesday evening.

Their Chapel Choir provided renditions of both traditional and contemporary songs, such as ‘Sweet Kate’ and Cabaret’, as well as moving organ solos by Director of Music, Paul Swinden and Colin Stuart. At the end of the performance, the School’s Headmaster Mr Vivian Thomas made a speech and very aptly said that the Chapel Choir were “wonderfully talented”. When asked by the Headmaster how they could use their talent to do more, one pupil simply said “to help people”.

The concert raised £672.21 for the Hospice! We would like to say a huge thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents at Arnold House School for their continuing support, with special thanks to Stephanie Miller, Paul Swinden, Colin Stuart and the School’s Chapel Choir for organising a wonderful performance.

The next concert in the St  John's Hospice Musical Series will be on the 22nd March and will be performed by the LSE Musical Society. Spring comes to St John's Hospice Shop

Shop in March

With the rain a distant memory and the sun now shining, our Shop has blossomed into spring with thanks from John Lewis Oxford Street's visual merchandising team.

Using their expertise, the team have given our shop window a refreshing makeover to advertise the Shop's spring collection of clothes and accessories.

After sorting through the shops, plentiful supply of donated goods, pastel pinks and greens now dominate the window display and the mannequins wear pale denim and light spring jackets. Finally, the winter coats can be packed away and boots stored for next year. Bright pink, flower window stickers complete the spring feel of the shop and make the window eye catching for passers by.

The make over has been well received by customers who have been drawn into the shop by the items on display. We look forward to seeing the next imaginative display the team will create for us in a few weeks time!

If you are clearing away your winter outfits, please do donate them to our Shop. You can drop them off at the Shop or call 020 7449 9791. All proceeds raised go directly to support our patients and their families.

LSE Students Raise Funds for Hospice at Sainsbury's

LSE Sainsburys

Volunteers from the London School of Economics took part in a bag packing event to help raise funds for St John's Hospice at the Sainsbury's store in Finchley Road.

Students gave up their time on the 25th of February to support the Hospice as part of their ‘Student Volunteering Week’ which started on 24th February and ends on the 2nd of March. All of the students were extremely enthusiastic and helpful, and this was reflected in the incredible amount raised; just over £314.00 in just 3 hours!

St John’s Hospice would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped on the day, especially David Coles, the volunteer co-ordinator at the London School of Economics, who helped recruit volunteers as well as Sainsbury's, for their ongoing support.
